Capitalism is dying: More than 30% of young Americans view communism positively, survey reveals

A recent survey conducted the by the reactionary Cato Institute and YouGov provides a quite promising perspective for the U.S society. Despite decades of severe anti-communist propaganda in education and media, a significant number of young men and women in the States seem to hold positive views on the concepts of socialism-communism.  

 

According to the Cato/YouGov survey, 62 percent of Americans aged 18–29 say they hold a “favorable view” of socialism, while 34 percent say the same of communism. 

 

Czech Republic: The despicable attempt to criminalize communist ideology shall not pass!

Based on the shameful and deeply unhistorical "theory of the two extremes", the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel (a former NATO General), signed on Friday 18/7 an amendment to the criminal code that criminalizes the "promotion of communist propaganda", putting it on a similar level to nazism!

The amendment invokes the known, unhistorical and shameful theory of the "two extremes", thus equating communism with the monster of nazism; under the amended criminal law, the public display of the sickle and hammer or the Soviet flag would incur similar penalty as bearing... swastikas or other Third Reich symbols!

Mexico: Mayor of Cuauhtémoc orders the removal of the statues of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara

In a completely unjustifiable decision, the mayor of Cuauhtémoc Municipality in Mexico City, ordered the removal of the sculptures of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara which had been placed in 2017 in Tabacalera gardens as a reminder of their first meeting in 1955.

In a report, the official gazette of the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) "El Machete", stresses out that the argument put forward by Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega was the lack of formal permits for its placement, despite the fact that the work had been there for several years and was recognized by residents and passersby. 

The KKE and its revolutionary action are a thorn in the side of all kinds of anti-communists

The ongoing struggle of the KKE and the mass mobilizations currently taking place in Greece, in which the KKE and KNE are playing a leading role, have placed all kinds of anti-communists in a very difficult position. Supporters of Greece’s greater involvement in the war, alongside Israel and the USA, accuse the KKE of supporting ‘the mullahs’, the ‘theocratic regime’ of Iran,  ‘terrorists’ and even ‘conservatism’ through its stance. They also claim that it it ‘fosters anti-Semitism’ because it supports the just struggle of the Palestinian people, who are being massacred by the murderous state of Israel.

Anticommunism in Kyrgyzstan: The world's largest monument dedicated to Lenin to be dismantled

Kyrgyzstan has joined the group of former Soviet republics in which socialist-era monuments are dismantled. According to eadaily.com, the local authorities of the city of Osh decided to remove the tallest memorial dedicated to the leader of the 1917 October Revolution and founder of the USSR, Vladimir Lenin.

As TASS reminds, Osh is the second largest city after Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The administration assured that the decision was made based on expediency, and not because of Russophobia.

The European countries where communist symbols and organizations are banned or restricted

In recent years, various European countries have implemented laws that prohibit the public display of communist symbols, as well as the existence of communist parties, in the context of a reactionary wave of anti-communism. 

Interestingly, at a time when socialism has long since disappeared from the European continent, the authorities are legislating with the aim of criminalizing an ideology that has historically been linked to significant social achievements for workers, especially during the early stage of the Soviet Union. 

Joint statement by the KKE, AKEL, PCP and KSČM in the European Parliament against anti-communist initiative

A joint statement by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus (AKEL), the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) gives a response to the recent despicable, anti-communist proposal by five reactionary MEPs who are members of the European People's Party (EPP). 

The joint statement, initiated by the KKE and addressed to the President of the European Commission and the College of Commissioners, condemns anti-communism and has been also sent to other MEPs for further signatures.

European Parliament: The shameful and unhistorical equation of Communism with Nazism shall not pass!

A new provocative attempt to equate communism with Nazism and take measures against communist symbols took place in the European Parliament, “Rizospastis” newspaper has reported. Five MEPs of the European People's Party (EPP) asked the Commission to ban the hammer and sickle - which they shamelessly equate with the Nazi swastika (!) - just a few days after the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Anti-Fascist Victory of the Peoples, led by the Soviet Union and the Red Army.

KKE denounces European Union's new anti-communist initiative for the "European Day of the Righteous"

In a statement, the EU Parliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the new initiative of the European Union which equates Communism with the monster of Nazism.

KKE: Protests for the anti-communist, anti-democratic persecutions in Ukraine and Russia

Communist Front of Italy: On the nationalist, anti-communist state propaganda of the "foibe massacre"

Jihadist Syrian government bans the Communist Party

In a meeting held on January 29, the new jihadist government of Syria under Islamist Ahmed al-Sharaa (formerly Al-Jolani) decided to ban the activities of parties that participated in the so-called National Progressive Front, including the Communist Party of Syria. 

The activity of Syrian communists goes back to the 1920s with the foundation of the Syrian-Lebanese Communist Party in 1924. Despite its internal splits and divisions, the Communist Party had always been a progressive and democratic force, struggling for the rights of the Syrian people.

The history of the first workers’ state, the USSR, during its heroic period, when it was led by Joseph Stalin – that history is withheld from us. It is smothered by lies from dishonest and very influential sources.

How do we know this is so? What is the situation? Who are the liars? Why is this important? Finally, what should we do about it? The future of the world’s working class and the fight for an egalitarian world of what Marxist researcher Charles Andrews has called “No Rich, No Poor,” depends on what we do. 

I began to discuss this question in an earlier article titled “Marxists Behaving Badly” which you can download from my Home Page. However, that was a very partial discussion of this enormous challenge to all of us. In my talk today I intend to confront this crisis more directly.

Communism as a cockroach: Hideous anti-communist exhibition presented at the University of Tübingen

The University of Tübingen in Germany presents a hideously anti-commmunist exhibition under the name “The Price of Freedom”, which is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 20th anniversary of the so-called “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine and the 10 years since the Euromaidan. 

 

Unsurprisingly, partners in this anti-communist project are the the Federal Foreign Office and the Ukrainian Institute in Berlin. 

 

Greek communists stage militant protest against anti-communist event dedicated to "Holodomor"

With a dynamic, yet peaceful, protest held on Saturday 23 November in Mandra, a town west of Athens, members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing, KNE, condemned the unhistorical and anti-communist event in commemoration of the so-called "Holodomor". 

The event titled "Memorial event for the innocent victims of the Stalinist regime-instigated Genocide, HOLODOMOR 1932-1933" was organized by the Municipality of Mandra in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece and the Hellenic-Ukrainian Chamber.

One would think that following the prevalence of the counterrevolution in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the anti-communist campaign that was unfolded during the Cold War would end. Not only did this not happen but, on the contrary, the attempt to slander socialism-communism continued unabated and, in many cases, it was instrumentalized, mainly in the United States and the European Union through the establishment of institutions and foundations, having as a sole purpose the falsification of history. Within this context, by an unanimous decision of the U.S Congress in 1993, the notorious Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) was established, with a stated mission of “educating Americans about the ideology, history and legacy of communism”(1). 

Trump declares Marxists and Communists key enemies of the United States

“The enemy from within, the fascists, the Marxists, the communists are more dangerous than Russia and China and other people”, – said Donald Trump on 6 October during his rally in Juneau, Wisconsin.

Trump is countering the Democratic Party in the presidential race by accusing Marxists of being guilty of all the troubles in America. When the bourgeois state fails to manage domestic issues it is always convenient to find an enemy and accuse it of all the sins. Moreover, Trump is unable to come up with any constructive strategy to fight Kamala Harris, so he is bringing back the age-old threat of communism as a political tool.

Stalin is their nightmare: European Parliament regrets "growing cult of Stalin and related increase in Soviet nostalgia in Georgia"!

Joseph Stalin, the architect of Soviet Union's triumph over Nazism in the Second World War and the man who transformed the USSR from a backward, mainly agricultural country, into an industrial superpower, continues, 70 years after his death, to frighten capitalists and their political servants throughout the world. 

In a recently revised version of a draft resolution on Georgia, the European Parliament added a passage speaking about the "growing cult of Stalin and related increase in Soviet nostalgia in Georgia".
